Thesis Project #7: Nets & Clay
Exhibition Photos
In this weeks project, I wanted to portray the tension in withholding my emotions. I used chickenwire to form the shape of pieces, then covered them with clay and baked them in the oven to harden the rock-like pieces. I then painted the pieces and used charcoal to create face drawings in some of the pieces. Afterwards, I sewed some into the net, hung the net from the top, and formed different layers to portray transitional forms of the tension. As my emotions tries to escape, I hold them back in, conceal them within barriers of stone, all for them to weigh down my walls, ultimately engulfing them, leaving nothing but a broken, shrunken, chaotic mess.
